New Managing Director Appointed Aberdeen-based Enterprise Engineering Services (Enterprise) today (Thursday 28 May 2009) announces the appointment of Andrew Scott as managing director. He takes over responsibility of the business from Gordon Mitchell who has stepped down from the role after 18 years. In his 24 years with Enterprise, Andrew has been a key figure in the firm’s expansion, seeing it grow from a fabrication facility in the 1980’s to a three division group operating globally from its Northeast headquarters. Joining the company as a quality assurance engineer in 1985, he worked his way up the ranks to project manager and latterly to engineering manager, where he led a team of 60 staff in the fabrication workshop. In recent years he has been involved heavily in the diversification of the organisation after changes in the Scottish market place. Graham Mackie, one of the owners of Enterprise explains, “With such extensive experience and knowledge of the company Andrew was a clear choice for this role. He has been integral to building the business framework to date and has been opening up new markets for us, such as the renewable sector. His enthusiasm and dedication to Enterprise will play a major role in our ongoing growth and development.” Andrew will now be responsible for the company’s three divisions: Enterprise Engineering, Scottish Rig Repairs (SSR) and Site Services. Together the divisions provide fabrication services to the oil and gas industry, repair and modification services to a number of major drilling companies worldwide and onsite maintenance to the hydro power, water control and paper industries. With an annual turnover of more than £14 million, the company currently employs 140 staff both onshore at the West Tullos Industrial estate workshops and offices and offshore on client facilities. Andrew says, “I first came across Enterprise more than 20 years ago and to have seen the company go through so many different phases of growth is very rewarding. With a number of new contract wins in the pipeline there are further exciting times ahead and I look forward to taking on this new role.” Knowing the true value of working your way up the ladder first hand, Enterprise’s growth strategy is in the development of skills. Andrew continues, “We currently have six young apprentices on our trainee scheme. It’s a significant investment in the future of Enterprise to ensure that there is a clear path to develop young people’s skills and to fast track their careers. I worked my way to the position of managing director from being a QA engineer and recognise the importance of knowing an industry from the ground up.” Filling Andrew’s previous post of engineering manager is Archie Skinner, who has joined the company from FTV Proclad (UK) Limited in Dunfermline. Andrew adds, “I believe Archie’s knowledge of the manufacturing process and machinery will bring improvements to Enterprise and allow us to expand our working capabilities further.” More about Enterprise Engineering can be found at www.eesl.com or by calling 01224 288400 or emailing sales@eesl.com. |
